Hidar, Stop action animation, 6 min: 42 sec, 2011-12
Inspired by a chapter from Fikir Eske Mekabir (a classic Ethiopian novel), I am exploring how memory and the past shape our understanding of the present. By placing my artwork in a real space to create a relationship with the surrounding environment (a drawing of a person opening a real door), I strive to find a means of communication between art and the everyday, the imagination and the real, the here and the other.
